Investment Acquisition | Shopping Center Redevelopment | Prairie Village, Kansas
Jeff was part of the team that acquired three iconic grocery-anchored centers from the JC Nichols Company in 2009. More than just typical centers, each of these properties served as the heart and soul of some of Kansas City’s premier infill neighborhoods. Because of the recession and lack of attention from the previous owners, each of these centers underperformed their potential to serve the residents of these long-established communities. Jeff was instrumental in representing the ownership group, and worked with municipal staff and elected officials to establish the first Community Improvement District in the State of Kansas – a public/private partnership that help fund much-needed renovations for the centers. Jeff directed the Corinth Square renovation – which encompassed a new architectural direction, significant construction efforts and revamping the tenant mix. The results of that successful effort have measurably benefitted the shopping center’s tenants, the City (through enhanced tax revenues), and surrounding residents.
